Implementation of Kigali city master plan involves several construction of new buildings, demolition of some old buildings and the supervision of city authority in charge of master plan, through which buildings execution process is checked out and in sometime it involves the demolition of some buildings out of master plan layout and this results in generation of construction and demolition waste. The main findings and analysis of research are discussed as per variable in each sub question.

The respondents were project managers and site engineers from building companies that conduct both construction and demolition activities, the assistant deputy from the department of urban planning and construction one stop centre, which is in charge of city master plan, drivers and coordinators of approved waste collectors companies in Kigali, the coordinator and technician in charge of Nduba landfill. This is an explanatory study I used qualitative research instruments such as semi-structured interviews and observation. Zero waste concept, urban regime theory and theory of planned behaviours all were selected to support the main concept. In order to answer this question, I have divided it into the following sub-questions: How does implementation of Kigali city master plan affect construction and demolition waste in Kigali? What is the situation of construction and demolition waste disposal in Kigali? How does the willingness of building companies to collaborate in waste separation affect the disposal of construction and demolition waste in Kigali? How does the accessibility of the road to Nduba landfill affect the disposal of waste in Kigali? Integrated solid waste management concept was used in this study as an umbrella for other theories and concept. The main research question of the study is: To what extent do an implementation of Kigali city master plan, road accessibility to Nduba landfill and willingness of building companies to collaborate in waste separation influence the disposal of construction and demolition waste in Kigali. The objective of this thesis is to explain how the implementation of Kigali city master plan, road accessibility to Nduba landfill and the willingness of building companies to collaborate in waste separation are influencing the disposal of construction and demolition waste in Kigali. The thesis considers the implementation of Kigali city master plan as the main source of C&D waste and Nduba landfill as the approved dumping area for all wastes generated in the city of Kigali. We also carry a collection of modern subjects which lovingly revive the charm of 20 th Century art and design.This thesis focuses on the factors affecting illegal disposal of construction and demolition waste in Kigali.
